Frequently asked questions.

Why the wave Pilates?

Pilates is one of the best and most effective ways to strengthen the core, improve posture, gain strength and flexibility throughout the whole body. At The Wave, we strive to focus on the mind/body connection in all classes and also offer other supplemental classes such as Yoga, Barre, Dance, Fusion Flow, Meditation, etc. We believe that intentional movement, breathing, music, cueing, compassion are all such important elements to helping your class time be a significant, healing, grounding part of your day.

Is Pilates for every body?

Yes! Modifications and adaptations are available and encouraged to help Pilates be a safe and effective form of movement for every body. But, starting with Pilates Reformer group classes may not be the best option at first depending on your personal experience, fitness levels, injuries, pregnancy, rehabilitating, etc. Mat Pilates, our intro to reformer classes, Tai Chi, Seaside Yoga and private or semi-private classes are a more appropriate starting point in those particular circumstances. If you are brand new to Reformer Pilates, please schedule an intro to Reformer class initially to gain an understanding of the Reformer and basic foundation from the beginning.

Why are all the classes so full?

We are glad everyone is excited to sign up and get into a class. However, the class numbers moves a lot, so get on the waitlist and you will have a better chance of getting in the class if you get on the waitlist early. You will also see last minute classes open up. Usually the day of there will be spots that open up, so if you feel like you want to go to a class that day, look and see if a class has opened up.

How does the waitlist work?

Essentially, if a spot opens, you’ll be automatically added to the class if you’re first on the wait list, until 2 hours before class.

Don’t forget, during the late cancellation period (8 hours before class), you will still be moved into class up to 2 hours before class starts. If it’s within the 2 hour window of class, you’ll need to remove yourself from the waitlist and add yourself to class if a spot is available.

To avoid being added overnight, simply get off the wait list before bedtime. If you’re added and need to cancel within that 8 hr window, a $10 late cancellation fee will apply when applicable. We hope this will help the wait list move faster and allow even more people opportunities to get into classes.

You will get a text message when someone gets out of the class and you are moved into the class automatically. Just so you know, a lot of movement happens on the waitlist 8-12 hours before class. So if you're on the waitlist during those times, be ready to come to class!

Important: If you are on the waitlist during the late cancellation period (within 8hrs before the start of class), you will still get moved into class until 2 hrs before class. If you get into class unintentionally because you were on the waitlist and need to get out, you will be charged the late cancellation fee of $10 to get out. If you cancel within an hour of class starts, you will loose your class credit too. We are understanding for life circumstances, we know life happens out of our control at times!

Are there any fees for canceling a class or not showing up?

IF you change your mind and get out of a class more than 8 hours before the class starts, then there is NO FEE to cancel the class. However, if you cancel within 8 hours of the class starting, you will be charged a $10 late cancelation fee. If you do not show up to a class, then you will be charged a $15 no-show fee. If you cancel within an hour of class starts, or a no-show, you will loose your class credit too. These fees are to encourage you to get out of a class you know you are not going to make so others can get in! IF you do get sick or have something come up that you have to miss a class, get out of the class as soon as you know so others can get in the class and then send us an email or text to refund you the fee.

what are your studio protocols?

Your safety and well-being is very important to us. We would like to keep our studio as clean and safe as possible. When you enter, please remove your shoes and wear clean sticky, grip socks beyond the boutique areas. We ask that you use your own mat and bolsters (or pillows). You may even want to bring a small blanket for meditation moments and classes. We will have some to borrow and purchase but again, would like to keep the exchange of germs as minimal as possible. If you are sick, please stay home and rest. We will have hand sanitizer (it smells like a vacation) and will ask that you clean any equipment used, including reformers thoroughly after each class.

Please wait to enter the studio until you see the class before yours finish. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at hello@thewavepilates.com. We genuinely care about you and want to do whatever we can to serve and help you have the most positive experience.
